![]() Well, the past few days have been quite busy. Wednesday Gavin and I decided to brave the rain and drive up to Ojai so that he could spend some more time with his family, including his sister Kendra, who was visiting. We did that, and I decided that I would work a half-day on Wednesday, which I quickly learned was nearly impossible...so I made up the time working on Friday as well. Wednesday Gavin, his mom, sister and I had a South American lunch (delicious) and saw Bolt, which was pretty cute. Thursday Gavin's family and I headed down to my aunt's house in San Diego. There, we met up with the rest of my family and had a Thanksgiving celebration. The drive down was a long one - it should have taken 3 hours (without traffic) and, although we didn't encounter traffic until the last hour, it took us something like 4.5 hours. It was long. But it was fun to see my family and super cute to see my little cousins Keana and Leila, who put on a dance show for us. Not included in the video was the "Walts #3." After it was all over, Gavin's family headed back up to Ojai, whereas Gavin and I decided to stop driving once we reached Los Angeles, preferring to drive up to Ojai the next morning for Thanksgiving #2. Friday morning we got up bright and early and drove up to Ojai. I worked a bit, making up the work I did not do on Wednesday, while Gavin's family cleaned the house for their expected guests later on that afternoon (Gavin's dad's colleague and his girlfriend and daughter). Thanksgiving #2 was much smaller (8 people, as opposed to the Smith Family Thanksgiving at 22), so that was a bit different for me. Difficult to disappear if you just need a moment to yourself. Then Gavin, Kendra and I drove back down to Los Angeles on Friday night because Kendra's flight left super early in the morning on Saturday. Saturday I did not want to drive at all, considering all told between Wednesday and Friday night we drove about 506 miles. I ended up going to the farmer's market, went to see Role Models with Gavin, Joey and Carrie and then Gavin and I made a pizza dinner inspired by a book we saw at Sur La Table while waiting for our movie. It was good. Most of Saturday I guess I was wondering what day it was and why we could do fun stuff like go to the movies in the middle of the day on a "Monday." Sunday I went to church, then I went to lunch, then I went back to church to see a good friend get ordained, then we had a family dinner. After such a busy past few days, I'm glad today is Monday and that I can just relax a little. Unfortunately I have a few meetings nights this week, but hopefully I'll feel rested as we enter in this busy, busy time of year. - Jenny, 12/01/2008 07:59:00 AM |
