Tonight I went to my monthly meeting for Family Promise, where our plans for our first fundraiser were unveiled: a murder mystery dinner. Having gone to a fair number of fundraising teas, I am excited about this change of theme! It'll be an interactive murder mystery (I'm not sure how, exactly, but I know that when you buy a ticket you have to fill out a short questionnaire) with dinner at the Castaway. Gavin and I will be going, as well as my aunt Ellie & uncle Scott, who have said they will buy tickets from me. Should you be in the area on that date and have interest in going, let me know and then I can sell you a ticket.

The hospital "chain" I work for recently bought another hospital in the Valley. Today I worked there for the first time, which was interesting because it used to be a for-profit, secular hospital that never had any spiritual care services. That my hospital bought them and is making them a non-profit, Catholic hospital is a TOTAL switch, but the word I heard around the hospital today has been pretty positive. I'll be working there a few days a month and it'll be interesting to see how it goes. It's already been different for me, in that today one of my units was pediatrics, which I have never done before. Unrelated, my badge picture came out very cute.

Um, I think I might have more to say, but I'm feeling kind of tired right now, so best get off to bed. The heat wave that has hit us here in SoCal has been brutal and I am absolutely HORRIBLE in the heat. I have a really difficult time getting comfortable, which means that it's difficult for me to fall asleep. I hear tomorrow will be cooler and Saturday might even bring rain, which is so weird to me. I hope it's true. One nice thing--this afternoon I felt those lovely Santa Ana winds, which are my absolute favorite.
