Yay for the 4-day work week! As per MLE's sage advice, I just finished an apple with some Nutella spread upon it. Rest assured, it was delicious. However, now I feel like I am sticky and covered in chocolate. Before everyone gets here, I'm going to have to make my way to the bathroom so that I make sure I don't look embarrassing.

One of the nicer things about working downtown is that Gavin also works downtown. Yesterday I was in my cube, minding my own business, when I got a call on my cell phone. It was Gavin, and he was calling to see how to get in my building. So, I gave him the information and it turned out that he was already downstairs and on his way up to come and see me to say hi. I showed him my cube and then we played some ping pong and then we went downstairs to get an "eat to bite" (as my dad likes to say) at the Farmer's Market. A very pleasant surprise!

This morning I happened to get on the 7:08 train. Earlier this week (Monday, I think) I must've got on the same train because I had the same train driver. I don't know his name but, boy, is he enthusiastic. Here are some of his quips:
"Good morning, good morning, good morning! This is Independence Day. Happy Birthday, America!"

"Drink plenty of fluids, stay hydrated. It's going to be another beautiful Southern California day!"

"Say good morning to your neighbor. Good morning, neighbor! Good morning, good morning."

"You've come onto the Red Line train. It's good to see everybody this morning."

"Are you ready to make this day a better day?"

Ordinarily someone so enthusiastic might be too much for me in the morning, but I really dig being on this guy's train. It's almost enough to make me want to make that my regular train (instead of the 7:15-20-ish train that I usually catch).

Tomorrow I'll relish in having the morning off, then I'll go to Terrence's for a party. Saturday I have no real plans, other than being on-call in the PM. Sunday I have to give a speech at another church in Burbank regarding the Family Promise chapter that we're setting up. No Sunday softball because of the holiday.
