The Medieval Bestseller I read it somewhere on the Internet... |

![]() ![]() The other day I was sitting at home and my dad came in and said to me, "You know that 7-11 by Burroughs? It's turned into a Kwik-E-Mart." I responded, "You mean, like the Simpsons' Kwik-E-Mart?" "Yeah. And there's all of these spotlights...I wonder what's going on," Dad said. I responded with, "Oh, they're probably just filming something." Later on we asked Joey and Carrie about it and apparently 7-11 is doing some promotional thing for the Simpsons movie. They're selling a bunch of Simpsons trinkets but, in addition, they've completely re-done 12 stores around the nation to be Simpsons-themed, including one a mere 5 or so blocks from my home. It's everyone's guess as how Burbank was lucky-enough to get our own Kwik-E-Mart...or why 3 of the dozen stores are in California, two in the LA-area. There has been a line wrapping around the building for a couple of days now, but this morning Joey (who is conveniently "sick" from work today for other matters) and I took a walk to the Kwik-E-Mart to check what's going down. (photos here, or click the photo above) When we arrived in the morning, there was no line, although it felt a little crowded inside. Mostly it's still a 7-11, but there's clever signage (even graffiti) in place of the traditional signage and they also are selling Simpsons product, like Krusty-Os (they were sold out when we went), Buzz Cola, Squishees, etc. In other news, I was thinking about going away this weekend. My plans to go up to Cambria failed, so I asked my Aunt Trisha if I could come down and hang out with her in Laguna Beach for the weekend. We loosely arranged to do this last week at the wedding, but I called today and she's not home... :( I wonder if she went down to Aunt Sally's for the weekend, since it's Leila's birthday tomorrow. Perhaps I'll call her in a few hours to see what the haps are. Maybe if she's not home, I'll see if I can go down and hang out with Aunt Sally in San Diego. Other than that, nothing much going on. I just noticed I'm a mere 8 photos away from 1,000 pictures on Flickr. I tried again yesterday afternoon to do the cherry ice cream and it didn't work. I was frustrated until this morning, when I figured out that you can't put the cherries in until the very last few minutes of the churning cycle. So now there's some cherry ice cream...I doubt I'll make any more cherry ice cream...too difficult. - Jenny, 7/06/2007 02:31:00 PM |
