![]() Well, the bad news was that Dad fell asleep when we were listening to Mark Twain. The good news is that I was the one who was driving! We listened to the CD with Mark Twain's autobiography. He sounds like he was pompous, but maybe that was just the actor who was reading it. I asked Dad if he wanted to listen to any of the stories, but he vetoed that, so we started listening to A Walk in the Woods. We didn't finish it (two hours left), but my Dad did seem to like it and we will probably finish it on our drive tomorrow to Nashville. We have plans to stop somewhere on the road to pick up another title, probably one more like The Devil Wears Prada because it is light enough and has enough of a story to easily follow along and pay attention to. Here are some pictures from this leg of our trip, from Gallup, NM to Oklahoma City, OK (which Danny says clocks in at 661 miles): New Mexico: Mile 314 on the 40E The biggest cross in Texas The leaning tower of water There's absolutely nothing in Texas An artsy shot of Oklahoma A picture of Oklahoma's beautiful red dirt Tomorrow we embark for Nashville, TN, which (to my surprise) is still in the Central Time Zone. When we arrive, we will meet up with Tisra (my first time meeting her, much to Matt's chagrin because he doesn't like his friend groups to mingle), who is nice enough to research BBQ restaurants for our rendezvous. I'd like to point out that I'm not a huge fan of BBQ and neither are Tisra nor her family, but that this is solely for my dad, who is a BBQ nut. Tisra and her family are extremely nice to accomodate us by going to a type of food that they aren't necessarily big fans of... - Jenny, 9/08/2006 08:14:00 PM |
