![]() To keep you all updated in my Fantasy NASCAR standings, I'm sure everyone (except Danny) will be pleased to hear that I am in 4th place. I am not quite sure how it happened that I am doing so well, especially because I have not watched a lick of NASCAR. I am only 66 points behind Danny (who's in 3rd) and 72 points behind Sean (who's in 2nd). They are my next targets to beat on my quest to being first in our NASCAR league, which would be especially sweet because last year I was in last place. This week is all about maintenance for me. Today I have mustered up the strength to take my car in to get some maintenance. I absolutely hate going to take my car in because, to be honest, I just don't care about maintaining it so long as it works. But I needed to get gas, have my oil changed, replace a headlamp and have my tires rotated. I decided that I would go to the same place for all of these little dealies to keep me more patient. The good news is that, now that Ken's Rapid Lube is no longer, I go to Tilley's 76 in Burbank because I know Bob Tilley, who goes to my church. They do all sorts of things and apparently can handle all that I threw at them this morning (whereas Ken would have only been able to do the oil). And, if it's like in times past, Bob usually gets my car washed for me at the car wash across the street. That would be a definite BONUS if he did it again for me this time because it would mean that would take one more item off of my list for this week. Sometimes they even give me a new 76 ball for my car antenna, but that usually gets stolen within the month. Tomorrow I will maintain my head by getting my hair cut. I'll have to talk it over with my stylist, but I am thinking about going maybe an inch above my shoulders, so maybe to take an inch or an inch and a half off. For the rest of this week I will work on cleaning up the house, web design projects, and various other things. This is all very exciting for all of you, I realize. The thing is that I hate maintenance because it's never over with. You do it, and then you have to do it again after what seems like a short time. Such a pain. One of the things I didn't like about my old job was that I'd design these datasheets and think that I was done with that, but then every other week the engineers would change SOMETHING in the specifications and then I'd have to go and fix it. I couldn't stand that those things were never just done. Check it out! I made the paper! Ok, it's just my name, age and location, but it's still cool. While we were at the Strawberry Festival we ran into the Daily News person who wrote about the festival. FYI, I also had the strawberry nachos. Cinnamon-sugared flour tortilla chips, topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Very good! Well, I started working yesterday on my Form 5, aka paperwork to become a candidate in the PCUSA church. I have 6 questions I need to answer, including a personal statement of faith, and I have done 2/6 questions and have ideas for the other 2/3 of the form. It's not easy. Which, I suppose, is a good thing. After lunch, I plan on being diligent at working on it instead of constantly checking my myspace. - Jenny, 5/23/2006 11:18:00 AM |
